100 YEARS U.S. - HUN. | Budapest 5K Route Description

SHORT DESCRIPTION OF THE ROUTE:

1. START

The route begins at American Corner Budapest (1093. Budapest, Fővám tér 13-15.), by scanning the QR code placed next to the entrance of the building. After scanning the first code, you will have to follow the route and scan the QR codes at each checkpoint, in the order they are marked on the map (you will be prompted to type in your runner’s ID, this will be used to calculate your lap times). The last code to be scanned will be marked as CÉL/FINISH. Once you scan this code, the system automatically records your run, and it will be visible on the leaderboard. If you miss a checkpoint, your run will be disqualified.

PLACEMENT OF THE QR CODES AND THE ROUTE:

In order to successfully complete the run, you will have to scan 4 QR codes and enter your “Runner’s ID” at each checkpoint.

1st QR CODE: START

download this document for printing (it contains the pics of QR codes)

The run starts at the Salt House building (1093. Budapest, Fővám tér 13-15.) of the Corvinus University of Budapest, where American Corner Budapest is located. The START code is placed on the window located to the left of the entrance.

Scan the QR code with your phone, open the pop-up site and enter your runner’s ID (this is the code you received when you signed up for the run; you can find it in your runapest.hu account). Once you type in your ID, you will get a “Run started successfully!” (Sikeres indulás!) message.

American Corner Budapest is a cultural and educational center that provides programs that introduce the local community and individuals to American society, culture and democratic values.

After scanning the code, you will start the run by running towards Szabadság-híd, and following the route all the way to the first checkpoint (make sure you observe traffic laws). If you’re lucky, you won’t even have to stop until you reach this stop, the first McDonald’s in Hungary.

2nd QR CODE: FIRST CHECKPOINT:

download this document for printing (it contains the pics of QR codes)

The code is located on the window of the restaurant (circled in the below picture):

From here, you will continue running along Váci street towards Vörösmarty square and then on to Dorottya street (you may recognize the street names from Capitaly) and out to the Pest embankment at Lánchíd (Chain Bridge). Follow the route and, after passing by Parliament, you will find the next highlight: Mihály Kolodko’s Lisa Simpson mini-statue.
